Antique Indian Silver Bracelet
Brahmour District
Himachal Pradesh
India

Wrist Dia 6cm

£980

Transformed from a block of pure silver and masterfully shaped by hand using basic instruments, this incredible cuff could not be created by any jeweller alive in the region today. The stylish dragon headed terminals so wonderfully realised by the craftsman hail from ancient Persian and Scythian designs dating back thousands of years. These are amulets worn to promote good luck, health and fortune to the wearer and are blessed at the moment of giving. We asked a local jeweller to renew the 'tilak' or blessing mark on the dragons forhead in the traditional way with jewellers red enamel, bringing the bracelet seemingly to life again. A surprisingly comfortable piece to wear, this rare piece breathes the history of fashion from the pristine heights of the mighty Himalayas in India.
